This Day In History...
Dr. Jack Hyles
September 25, 1926 to February 6, 2001
Today is the birth date of my most favorite preacher of all time. Dr. Hyles to me was a Man of God! His life showed that he walked with God. Dr. Hyles preached the Word of God with such simplicity of understanding and I remember how time just flew when he preached. No one could tell a story or make you laugh like Bro. Hyles. I truly wish he was still alive today. He has been up in Heaven now for 9 years and I still miss him very much and refuse to forget this great Man of God!
This is what Bro. Hyles said about himself in his book "Today". He writes: I was born in a little town called Italy, Texas. It is in central Texas, in the black-land cotton country. I was born to very simple parents, that is as far as social standing and financial standing are concerned. I was the fourth child and the only boy. The two oldest sisters died before I was born. My favorite Scripture verse is Daniel 12:3, "And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever." On this day each year I take inventory of my life and see what the year has meant to Christ and to other people. Let us today pause and see what we are doing for Christ and pledge ourselves to do more.
I remember the sermons he spoke while he travelled, some so life changing. I remember getting my Bible signed by Bro. Hyles. In fact the last time was in 1994 at North Sharon Baptist Church in Grass Lake, MI. He was very gracious and kind to all I could see. When I went to his college he would travel from the auditorium to his office using the outside alley and I would try to shake his hand as much as possible. I received his funeral on VHS and still to this day at the end of his Saturday funeral when they play "Amazing Grace", I still tear up. There have been great giants of the Lord I have meet, but Bro. Hyles was I think the closest I could relate to. I miss you Bro. Hyles! Thank you for all that you did! Oh, and we sure could still use you today!

Could I Have Done More?
Could I have done more? What a question to ask yourself. I usually ask this question just before I go to sleep. Just before my freight train of snoring hits, I will usually ask myself and ask God, could I have done more for you, God? Could I have done more to tell others about you? Could I have been kinder to people who I came in contact with? Could I have been more like you, Jesus, today? Usually, the answer is yes. Sad to say but I don't think we give Jesus our best through out the day, and I am including myself.
As I sit here right now, I'm contemplating could I have helped my wife out more today around the house, in the garage or maybe watching our daughter, Grace? Could I have worked harder at my jobs today. Could I have organized my time better today or did I waste another day that God gave me? It's a question we all should ask our self. And if were honest, I think we all could do more? The ministry that Jesus had while he was on this earth was short and he did not have much time to dilly dally. I believe he did not waste the time that was given to him. This thinking can help us to be more for Jesus if were honest with ourself and act upon the conclusions we come too.
I just love this picture of Grace. Grace just loves to look at her self in the mirror and last Friday night when the family went shopping at the mall, I just had to take Graces picture. Doesn't it just look like there is two of them.
Everytime we pass by a mirror, if I'm carrying Grace then we just stop and make faces in the mirror and it is such a fun time. It's also neat to see the look on Grace's face. She will get perplexed at first and then realize that what she is seeing is Daddy and her and start to smile and then when I start making funny faces or growling at the mirror, which is what Grace does a lot of right now. She loves to growl. But mirror time is always fun. I am starting to pray with Grace usually in the mornings. She does not understand the concept of praying nor closing her eyes while I pray nor being quiet while I pray. But there are times I will open my eyes while I carry her as I pace and she will just be looking at me and have on her face a look like what are you doing Dad. I must say that being a Dad is more fun than I realized. I can't think though about being a single parent. That would be very tough. It is nice that when I get tired of Grace, I can hand her off to Mommy! In fact tonight was Mommies cake decorating class and I watched her for two and half hours. No problem I enjoyed it. But it was nice to hand her over to Mommy when she got home. Tomorrow night I will do the same as Mommy has a Pamper Chef party to go to.
My Wolverines barely won on Saturday against Noterdame, 28-24. But hey a win is a win. Go Blue this Saturday!!!
This here is a picture of Grace I took tonight while Mommy was gone. I was trying to read her this book, but Grace right now can't sit still for me to read to her so instead I gave her the book to play with, as you can see in the pic, and wouldn't you know it that book went straight for her mouth. Another item that gets drooled on. But you will be pleased as you can see from this next pic that not only is Grace crawling but is standing and pulling herself up on her own to stand next to the couch. Steph and I really believe she is very advanced for her age and I think she will be walking before Christmas. And possibly saying words before her 1st birthday.
So, are any of you enjoying the nice fall weather. We did! So much that the whole family cleaned up the garage today. It needed to be done, but I was not up to tackling the big job but after nearly 2 hours we got her looking great. Now Steph wants to do a garage sale and see if we can sell any of our junk. Anybody interested in helping? Just kidding! If you live out of state just disregard that last sentence. Well I will finish by saying I hope everybody is well and leave me a comment or email me and let me know what you think of the Nutt Family Blog.

Grace at 7 months is already pulling herself up to stand on her own. |

Today Is Not Just A Normal Saturday!
Today is the 9th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks on America. American lives were forever changed on this day nine years ago. We should never forget what happened on that day nor forget to ever pray for the families who lost loved ones and had to move on. Nor should we stop on this 'Patriotic Day' to forget those who sacrifice to keep our freedoms intact for us. Today is a somber day and one not to forget. This also is a day that will live in infamy as FDR said about December 7, 1941. Today also is a good day to feel proud to be an American. We as Americans should never sag our heads down in shame, we should always hold it up high and remember that a nation that puts God first and obey the only God, which is Jesus Christ, will always be a blessed nation. Psalms 33:12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance. And Proverbs 14:34 Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.
Today is also a day that we can learn from the past. The Bible says that 'sin is a reproach to any people.' Meaning this, that as a nation that continues to allow sins to go on, (ex.: abortion, pornography, alcohol and drugs, prostitution, gambling to say a few), without acknowledging their sins and correcting them, then God promises that those sins we commit as a nation will bring bad to us. 9/11 is only one reminder that shows us God will allow bad to happen to us so he can get us to wake up and give up the sins that we commit.
Today when your child or some young one asks you what happened on 9/11 and asks why 9/11 happened, you can set them down and explain to them that when good people do nothing to stop the wrong; then bad people run a muck.
But enough of that. Life does go on and today Michigan Wolverines play the University of Noterdame today.
After Michigan's blowout last week against Conneticut, 30-10. Michigan heads into week 2 and Rich Rodriguez tries to keep his job. Go Blue!!!
Dear Jesus, I also want to say thank you for my family. I was born into a Christian family and I married a christian young lady and now I have devotions and prayer with my baby daughter. It is a blessing I get to have everyday and there are those in the world who live in suppression, who would love to have what I have. Thank you very much Jesus for my salvation! Thank you for my wife and daughter and thank you for my church and Bible. The Christian life is the best life going!

It's Cooler Out!
My goodness, has the temperature ever dropped. Last night it was in the 50's. That almost makes me grab a blanket.
With cooler weather, it makes me think more of Christmas coming. It will be here in 108 days! Time to start planning to see family. I can't just wait to go see my Dad. Christmas at his place is so special to me. He must have got that from his Mom, because before she died going over to her place with the whole family for Christmas was just the best and happiest memories I have.
Christmas also this year will be so much more special cause of my daughter Grace. I am so much enjoying seeing her grow older. She is such a smart baby. Certainly gets it from her Mother. Grace, if you ever read this some day, I love you.
And to the rest of you reading this I hope you are making good memories today and are happy. Today will never come around again and tomorrow is not promised. Use the time God gives you wisely. God bless you all. Good Day!

It Feels Like FALL!!!
Today is Saturday and I'm happy it's not hot out. It's sunny out and a beautiful 77 degrees here in Fort Dodge. And the good Lord has given us a nice breeze also. My wife and I want to go to the apple orchard today. We are thinking about getting some apple cider and I would love to get some plain doughnuts. That combo just brings back my childhood.
The car did get fixed after the family waiting nine hours to get it. We finally got the car back a little after six. And it is doing fine. Next thing to get fix is the radiator. I have a huge crack on the one side of the plastic bottle. Thinking of maybe plugging it with some radiator gunk. Would like a new radiator in there but don't have close to two hundred dollars to fix it myself. Oh well! God will get it fixed, its his car. I gave it to him a long time ago and it is still running. Amen!
Grace is stilling growing like a weed and trying to stand. She is beginning to move fast as she crawls. Before you know it she will be walking. We were cleaning out her nose with all those nasty boogers and she doesn't like it one bit, in fact she screams and cries but as she was crying while Steph and I cleaned out her nose it sounded like she was saying 'momma' along with a lot of babble. Grace just melts my heart when she smiles at me. Grace loves bath and likes to play with her toothbrush after Mommy brushes her two bottome teeth. Here are some pics of Mommy and Grace with the toothbrush. Today Michigan football season starts and I am so excited to try and follow it throughout the season, even though I live in Iowa. Go Blue!

The Car is Worked On - Finally
After probably 9 months, the back wheel cylinders to our Chevy Cavilier will hopefully be fixed. We thought they got fixed back in March, but the problem came back. We finally got some money and the whole family is out on a journey today while the car gets fixed. We are as a family pounding the pavement finding things to do today. We dropped the car off around 9:05 and anytime we have Grace (which is always), we have lots to carry. So we loaded up our baby stroller and headed to Fareway Grocery store to get some food and then across the street is our church so we hung out there for a while. College class was in session with Pastor Smith in the auditorium so we thought we'd eat up some time and slip in the back. Not to be because Grace wanted to be fussy. Sigh! So we headed loaded up everything again and headed downtown to do some shopping. Thankfully, all these places including the car shop is downtown and everything is close by.
We went to a thrift store and bought Steph a handbag and me two golf shirts, which gave us another bag to carry. Ha! Ha! Oh well! Then we headed to the library to kill more time. We brought our laptops so that is where I created this blog. Later we will head to Zakeers Cafe for lunch. Steph is taking piano lessons at two today and then hopefully the car will be done by three today. I hope! So till then the family is roughing it downtown Fort Dodge without our car. Pray for us everyone! Lol!
